3 Essential Strategies for a Successful Holiday Campaign

As we approach the end of summer and head into the fall season, holiday campaigns should be at the forefront of of every marketers mind. The holiday season is a great time to increase your retention rate and acquire new customers since many people are going to be shopping for gifts for their loved ones. In 2022, CNBC reported that the average American spent $1500 on holiday gifts alone and an effective campaign can help boost sales and strengthen current customer relationships.

#1: Give early access to VIP members

Many brands tend to focus too heavily on gaining new customers during the holiday season when they could be using the extra push to incentivize their already loyal customers to spend money and help create a buzz surorunding their brand. By offering early acess or exclusive deals, customers will feel special that they got a good discount before eveyrone else. This exclusivity can also be leveraged on social media (ex. a promotional code that can only be accessed if they tag your brand on their stories) to help create more hype surrounding your brand. By starting the sales early, it also helps wiht the holiday rush and makes orders easier to manage later on.

#2: Extend deals for last minute (or late!) shoppers

On the opposite end of the first strategy, it is a great to extend your campaigns a few days past the peak holiday season to capture last minute and late shoppers. Not only are they more likely to buy on impulse because their main worry is being able to give the gifts on time, but they can also easily be won over with expedited shipping. One of the best ways to execute this would be to send out a newsletter, a day or two after, reassuring your customers that you have their back and can deliver thier gifts on time if they need to order anything last minute. The same strategy works on new customers as well. Make the landing page all about second chance deals and provide some exciting last minute offers that will incentivize them to buy from you.

#3: Leverage influencers

With the current power of social media continuing to be on the rise, this strategy may seem like a no-brainer. However, it is important to leverage infleuncers esepcially during the holdiay season because the average person is likely being bombarded with advertisements from left and right. Using influencers as a part of your campaign makes it more relatable and more real, making it stand out in a sea of deals and ads. Also, since many people gather around during holidays, do not underestimate the power of word-of-mouth.

As we enter into the hectic holiday season, as always, it is also important to look back on past holiday campaigns and identify areas of growth to work into future campaigns. Getting the timing right on these strategies is extremely crucial to its success and do not be scared to send the same deals in case your customers missed it the first time. All in all, the holidays are a great time to form a stronger bond with your loyal customers whilst gaining new ones.
